The Golden Tortoise Beetle, from the Chrysomelidae family, is a very beautiful beetle native to the US. They feast on morning glory and sweet potato plants. The beetle’s colors change seasonally, and, when threatened, it can change its colors at will by altering the flow of fluids beneath its cuticle. Despite this, however, the beetles are usually a beautiful metallic gold. The flared margins of its prothorax and elytra are often transparent.
